Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the AmeriCorps Seniors national service programs sponsored by Catholic Charities West Michigan. Position responsibilities include: recruitment, new volunteer onboarding, orientation and placement, volunteer in-services, recognition and special events, and maintain documentation compliance with federal and program regulations.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds awareness of national service and AmeriCorps Seniors programs to recruit new volunteers.
  • Monitors volunteer placements with station staff to promote program effectiveness and provide station staff with support for effective volunteer management.
  • Collects and provides to the AmeriCorps Seniors Director, Client and/or Student Assignment forms, Care Plans, client outcomes, volunteer evaluations, program feedback and all other required data from station staff, clients and volunteers according to federal and program regulations.
  • Orients volunteers to the policies and procedures as they relate to the programs, stations, sponsor organization (CCWM) and the volunteer; establishing clear expectations.
  • Coordinates with AmeriCorps Seniors Director to plan and implement quality trainings in accordance with federal and program regulations.
  • Maintains up to date and complete volunteer and program in accordance with federal and program regulations.
  • Supports volunteers in volunteer development to include learning technology thereby improving their ability to serve safely.
  • Reviews, approves, and submits volunteer timesheets monthly.
  • Maintains effective communication across all volunteer efforts.
  • Plans and implements recognition and special events.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Performs other special project assignments at supervisor’s request.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to streamline processes using technology to accomplish goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Desire to learn and improve technology skills including Chromebooks, VIS, and Zoom.
  • Ability to relate well to older adults and professionals within the communities.
  • Above average communication skills in individual as well as public settings.
  • Maintain organized, complete and accurate documentation in accordance with all federal and program regulations.
  • Ability to travel throughout Lake, Muskegon and Newaygo Counties.
  • Ability to organize and dispose of program items appropriately in anticipation of relocating our offices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

  • A High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree in a Human Services, Education or a related field strongly recommended.

 

Experience:

  • One-year experience working with older adults is required.
  • One-year experience working with technology and maintaining accurate documentation is required.
  • One-year experience planning and executing events is preferred.
  • One-year experience in a customer service related field preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
