Position Summary

The Child Welfare Supervisor position is responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of Child Welfare staff, including foster care, adoption, and licensing.  This position is responsible to ensure CCWM Child Welfare programs are adhering to Division of Child Welfare Licensing and Department of Health and Human Services regulations. The Child Welfare Supervisor position promotes timely permanence for referred children to guarantee the best quality of care for individuals served.  The position is also responsible for reading reports, tracking statistics and evaluating functions within all Child Welfare programs. 

 

Serving Benton Harbor/Berrien County.

 

Annual Salary Range: $49,840.00 - $55,840.00

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates services amongst all programs within Child Welfare when needed.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, and development of foster family homes.
  • Works cooperatively with the Department of Human Services, Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing, the court, and community providers.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff.
  • Provides on-call support, after hours support and placement assistance to staff.
  • Attend community events for recruitment.
  • Participates and/or facilitates in agency meetings, licensing audits, and accreditation studies.
  • Tracks data and statistics and interprets that data in reporting process.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.
  • Review reports for grammar as well as content in compliance with rules and policies.
  • Provides supervisory coverage during business and non-business hours.
  • Provides training to staff and adoptive parents as needed.
  • Ensures Agency vehicles and car seats are maintained and cleaned on a weekly basis. 
  • Schedules and coordinates weekly parenting time visits. 
  • Covers the supervision of parenting time visits as needed based on staffing.
  • Drives for Agency business.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Ability to successfully manage conflict between clients as well as staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret policy and procedures.
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritize many time sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to support and promote a positive work place culture.
  • Must be able to meet requirements of all contracts, licensing regulations and State/Federal oversight.

 

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor Degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is required.
  • A Master Degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is preferred.

Experience:

  • A Bachelor Degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is required.
  • A Master Degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is preferred.
  • CWTI Training is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CWTI Training is preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
