Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the One Township at a Time project. Position responsibilities include: township recruitment, new township onboarding, township communication, recognition and special events and maintain documentation compliance with program requirements.

 

The One Township at a Time (OTaaT) Program Specialist (PS) works with age 55 and better township residents in Newaygo County building relationships between neighbors. Initially, the PS meets with the Township Board securing use of the Township Hall for age 55+ listening sessions and activities. Then the PS leads the residents through a creative process identifying activities that township residents would be willing to engage in with other township residents. The activities and events are then scheduled and publicized. 10 out of 24 Newaygo County Townships are actively engaged in the Project currently. 4 additional townships are at various stages in the project onboarding process. Wage Range Starting at $17.00 Hourly with experience.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds awareness of One Township at a Time project benefits to recruit new townships.
  • Monitors township program activities to promote their program effectiveness and provide townships with support for effective older adult program management.
  • Collects and provides to the Seniors Director, township program outcomes, township resident evaluations, program feedback and all other required data from township leadership, residents and program collaborators according to program guidelines.
  • Orients townships and their residents to policies and procedures as they relate to the project, townships, residents and project collaborators; establishing clear expectations.
  • Coordinates with Seniors Director to plan and implement quality program micro-grant funding and program implementation within the individual townships.
  • Maintains up to date and complete township and program records in accordance with best practices.
  • Supports residents with program development to include learning technology thereby improving their ability to communicate and stay connected.
  • Collects and submits program metrics monthly.
  • Maintains effective communication across all township efforts.
  • Plans and implements township collaboration, recognition and special events.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Performs other special project assignments at supervisor’s request.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to streamline processes using technology to accomplish goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficiency with digital communication to include all online communications.
  • Ability to be clear and concise in all written communications.
  • Above average ability to relate well to older adults, collaborators, leadership and residents within the townships.
  • Above average verbal communication skills promoting project awareness one-on-one with individuals as well as in public settings.
  • Maintain organized, complete and accurate documentation in accordance with program best practices.
  • Ability to travel throughout Newaygo County.
  • Above average ability to develop promotional project materials that engage older adults inspiring them to take action.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a business related field is required.

 

Experience:

  • One-year experience working with older adults is required.
  • One-year experience working with technology and maintaining accurate documentation is required.
  • One-year experience planning and executing events is preferred.
  • One-year experience with digital communication is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
