Position Summary

Staff Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting functions within the Finance department and is a resource to the Director of Finance and Senior Management for more extensive ad hoc reporting.

 

Annual Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00

 

Flexible work schedule after an initial training period that includes working in the office and out of the office.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the financial data for the agency and prepares monthly reporting in a timely manner.
  • Prepares budgets and forecasts, including monthly/quarterly forecasts, mid‐year forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Analyzes monthly results and provides budget to actual variance analysis.
  • Prepares monthly accounting activities, including journal entry preparation.
  • Prepares year end audit worksheets and works with auditors to complete the annual Financial and Single audits, as well as other external financial reporting requirements.
  • Reconciles Balance Sheet accounts to sub ledgers.
  • Submits budgets to external funder websites as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to these sites.
  • Prepares and files government contract billings reports.
  • Handles material that is confidential in nature and makes decisions based on organizational policy.
  • Performs other special assignments at the supervisor’s request.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must submit to Agency approved background checks.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated prior work experience with general ledger accounting is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of prior work experience with Great Plains is highly preferred, however not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
