Position Summary

This position is based out of our Benton Harbor office and supervises Benton Harbor and Grand Rapids staff. Travel to other agency offices is required at a minimum of once per month and may be more based on operational need.

 

This position hires, trains and evaluates licensing and adoption staff.  This position reads reports, tracks statistics, evaluates program functions and provides reports as required. Adheres to all Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing rules and procedures, interprets and applies Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) policies, and assures that families are provided education and support. This position assists with Foster Care as needed including placement crisis and in office support as needed.

 

The position promotes timely permanence for referred children.  The position is responsible for the delivery of both voluntary and special needs adoption services.  The position is responsible to coordinate services with the Foster Care and Licensing program areas.  The position is responsible to provide supervision of Search and Reunion services. 

 

Annual Salary Range: $53,500.00 - $62,587.43

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff.
  • Coordinates services with foster care, licensing, and adoption programs.
  • Provides on-call support, after hours support and placement assistance to staff.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, and development of foster family homes.
  • Works cooperatively with the Department of Human Services, West Michigan Partnership for Children, Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing, the court, and community providers.
  • Understands and applies policy and procedure for the Department of Human services, the Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing and the Council on Accreditation.
  • Provides supervisory coverage during business and non-business hours.
  • Attends community events for recruitment as needed
  • Provides training to staff and adoptive parents as needed.
  • Assists in transporting clients when needed.
  • Participates in agency meeting, licensing audits, and accreditation studies.
  • Collects, tracks, analyzes, and interprets data and statistics.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

  • Participates in Day-in and Call-out rotation process.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

Position Requirements:

  • This position requires personal reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and a good driving record with zero work restrictions.
  • Must have personal auto insurance as required by law with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined.
  • Travel to other agency offices is required.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must submit to Agency approved background checks.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee, on occasion, may be asked to move or lift items up to 40 pounds in weight.

 

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office based, however, on occasion may require travel to other Agency offices and/or client homes as required by position responsibilities and/or Agency management.  This position will be routinely exposed to typical office noise levels and/or exposure to various weather conditions.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is required.
  • A master's degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is preferred.

Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is required.
  • A master's degree through an accredited college/university and three years of experience in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of previous experience working directly in child welfare adoption and/or licensing programs is highly recommended, however not required.
  • CWTI Training is required.

Professional Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CWTI Training is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
