Position Summary

This position oversees the Community Outreach program operations and ensures programs are consistent with their purpose as well as the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities West Michigan (CCWM).

 

Annual Salary Wage Range: $74,736.00 - $91,344.00

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction to program staff in the identification of opportunities for CCWM to enhance service delivery, take advantage of new opportunities, meet gaps in services and/or address organizational challenges.
  • Serves as a CCWM public representative to cultivate relationships with community leaders and members, including prospective volunteers and supporters to build awareness of, and support for, ongoing services to people in need.
  • Identifies partnerships and volunteer opportunities to support the day-to-day operations within community outreach programs.
  • Develops new community engagement strategies informed by data to achieve goals in support of community outreach programming.
  • Maintains on-going communication with volunteers and community partners.
  • Submits timely reports to the CEO regarding partner activities, levels of participation, and areas for potential growth.
  • Serves as the CCWM representative on task forces and collaborative initiatives focused on alleviating and responding to community needs.
  • Cultivates and maintains community partnerships across the 11 counties of the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
  • Supervises, coaches, evaluates and inspires program managers, supervisors and staff by fostering a total team attitude and culture.
  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Quality and Compliance to monitor outreach program outcome data and reporting.
  • Recommends outcome measurements to the CEO and Director of Quality and Compliance and implements those measures as appropriate.
  • Participates in the planning, writing and review of annual budgets.
  • Drives for agency business.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Continual learner with an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic moral doctrine.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and lead team efforts.
  • Ability to solve unstructured problems and use analytical skills in the evaluation and interpretation of data.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and related software (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Ability to plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of supervisory and professional staff.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports, make presentations, and maintain records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with clients and the public in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Ability to interact with the media.
  • This position requires reliable transportation. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record with zero work restrictions.
  • Must have personal auto insurance as required by law with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined. 
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must submit to agency approved background checks.

The staff member regularly may be asked to move or lift items up to 50 pounds in weight.

 

Work Environment:

 

This position is primarily office based, however, may require regular time out of the Agency offices as required by position responsibilities and/or agency management. This position will be routinely exposed to typical office noise levels and/or exposure to various weather conditions.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in nonprofit management is required.

Professional Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
